Driver Education Info

Driver Education is a 16-hour course. Ten hours are classroom instruction hours, and six hours are behind-the-wheel driving. Our classroom instruction is typically completed in two to three sessions.

The behind-the-wheel instruction is done on a one-on-one basis; the instructor and one student. For students living in Tulsa, we provide free pick up and drop off for the driving part of the instruction. Students may choose four 1 ½ hour drives or three 2 hour drives to complete the 6 hours.

Students may take Driver Education anytime after their 15th birthday; however, they must be 15 ½ before they can get their permit.

The course content includes a review of: The Oklahoma Driving Manual, Defensive Driving Techniques, Attitude Behind the Wheel, Zero tolerance for Drinking and Driving, the IPDE process of driving, as well as current video presentations, and, often a quest speaker.

Upon completion, students do receive two certificates: Driver Education and MVAPC for Defensive Driving.

Private Lessons is behind the wheel instruction. These lessons are scheduled on an individual basis. Fee: $50 per hour.
